Pouting

The pouting lives in shallow waters between 30 and 100 m. When young they usually prefer shallow places, reaching greater depths when they reach adulthood.

It is a sociable fish, which is why it gathers in large schools. Its diet consists of mollusks, small fish and crustaceans.

It can reach 45 cm. reaching a weight of 1.2 kg and living up to 4 years.

It is usually caught with longlines or trawl nets.

Gastronomy

Because it is a white fish, its fat concentration is low, around 1%, although at certain stages of its life it can reach up to 2.5%. It is high in vitamins, selenium and phosphorus.
