Diplodus sargus sargus

The common white seabream is distributed along the entire east coast of the Atlantic Ocean to South Africa, as well as throughout the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea.

It has a laterally compressed body of gray, light or dark color depending on your camouflage needs.

They can reach 45 cm. and weigh 4 kg.

When young they live in schools of numerous small bream very close to the shore. Adults are solitary and live in the sea at depths of 0 to 50m.

They feed on mollusks and other small invertebrates.

Sargo Escamudo

It is usually fished with rods or purse seines.

It is a fish whose meat is highly appreciated and of excellent quality consumed both baked and fried in olive oil.

In Spain the minimum legal size is 15cm and in the Canary Islands 22cm.
